1. Who are the driving tours for?
Hear’s A Journey driving tours are for the independent traveler(s) who enjoy exploring Europe’s smaller towns and countryside by car for either all or a part of a vacation.

 

2. What are the major benefits of the driving tours?
Hear’s A Journey tours serve as your personal guide. The tours accompany you where you want to travel and at your pace. They help reduce the fatigue from constant guidebook reading. They allow you to relax and appreciate the surrounding scenery while listening to information about the destinations you will stop to visit and other insights about the area.

3. In what countries and areas are the driving tours that you offer?
Currently there are three driving tours. Two are in the Tuscany region of Italy with both starting from Siena (one travels Northwest of Siena and the other South of Siena). The third, in Provence in southern France begins in Avignon and travels east.

 

4. Will there be other tours in the future?
Yes, other tours are in development and if you register with us we will E-mail you when new tours become available.

5. How long are the driving tours intended to take?
Each driving tour is designed to accompany you on a day’s trip. We typically recommend that you start your day about 9 am. The day’s itinerary with stops to visit the towns and major sites on the tour will usually take you to about 6 pm, but that depends on the length of your stops.

 

6. What distance is covered during each tour?
The distance covered from the start point of each tour to the furthest town or major site you will stop to visit is between 45-65 kilometers or 28-40 miles.

7. How do the driving tours work?
Each tour starts from a major city or town and links a few notable towns and possibly a major site of interest
(like an Abbey in the countryside) over the course of a day. Information about the towns or major sites are discussed before you reach the town or site. When you reach each destination along the itinerary, you will stop to visit and upon return, you’ll turn your tape player on again for more information about the next town or site and other information about the area. Directions are provided en route.

 

8. How long is the length of the audio cassette itself?
Each audio cassette contains approximately 90 minutes of information.

9. What kind of information is provided on the driving tours?
A diversity of expert information is relayed about the towns and major sites you’ll stop to visit as well as the surrounding area. Each tour discusses many of the following subject areas: political, social, commercial, military and religious history…significant artistic and architectural achievements…local foods and wines…centuries old festivals…illustrious native sons…the wonders of nature…indigenous languages…traditional handicrafts…and much, much more.

 

10. Are driving directions provided?
Yes, directions are provided two ways:
  1. specific directions are conveyed on the audio cassette driving tour all during the course of your day’s journey and
  2. written directions with maps are included in the supplemental informational booklet that comes with each driving tour. Directions include mileage, route numbers and/or directional signs and approximate drive time.

11. What is the narration like?
Each driving tour provides commentary in English by two professional narrators, a native of the country of the driving tour and an American. Through their conversation and questioning of one another, you'll learn about a range of information in an engaging and entertaining manner. Visit Our Tours page to listen to an audio sample.

All tours are in English.

13. Aside from the audio cassette what else comes with the driving tour?
Each driving tour also comes with a easy to carry 4” x 6” informational booklet that contains valuable information: 1) driving map of the day’s itinerary, 2) written directions, 3) maps of all the towns you’ll stop to visit, 4) major points of interest in the towns with hours they are open, 5) for museums and other places of art, the major artistic works and the artists represented, 6) weekly market days for each town and 7) year round festivals and events for each town.

 

14. Do you offer a CD version of the driving tours?
No, at this time we do not. While almost 100% of cars you can rent in Western Europe have a tape player for audio cassettes, many yet do not have CD players.

15. How much do the driving tours cost?
Each driving tour is $15.95 plus shipping. On all orders billed to New Jersey addresses you need to add 6% sales tax.

 

16. What is the shipping cost and how long does it take for delivery?
Shipping to U.S. addresses is $3.95 for one or more tours per each order. Shipping is by U.S. Priority Mail and takes 3-4 business days from the time we receive your order.

17. Do you accept orders and ship outside the U.S.?
Yes, we do. Order payment must be by credit card only. Shipping for 1-2 tours is $10.00; for 3-5 tours it is $15.00 and the cost increases by $5.00 for every 3 additional tours. We will ship up to 8 tours by Global Priority Mail (Air) with delivery from 5-10 business days from the time we receive your order. For orders with over 8 tours, we will ship by Parcel Post Airmail with delivery from 10-15 business days.

Please note that all customs, processing fees and/or taxes must be paid by the person ordering the tours.

 

18. How can I order? What forms of payment do you accept?
You can order three ways:

19. What is the return policy?

You can return an unopened tour that is in excellent condition for a refund minus shipping cost within 60 days from date of purchase. A refund will be issued upon receipt of the tour.

In the event a tour is defective send us back the tour within 90 days from date of purchase. Once we receive it, we will replace it immediately and pay for the shipping cost or issue a refund including shipping cost whichever you prefer.

Returns should be sent back to us by U.S. Priority Mail from the post office as other carriers do not deliver to post office boxes. Send to: Hear's A Journey, P.O. Box 1513, West Caldwell, NJ 07006.

 

20. How do I register?
To register, go to the Register section of our site and provide us with your E-mail Address. Please make sure to select your E-mail format preference and then click on the submit button. You will then receive an online confirmation and "VOILA" you are registered.

21. What am I registering for?
When you register with us, you are registering to receive information on new Hear's A Journey tour releases and special offers via E-mail. Rest assured that we will not contact you unless you ask us to. We will not rent, sell or share your E-mail address with anyone. For additional information, please read our Privacy Policy.

 

22. What is an E-mail format preference?
When you register on our Web site, we ask for your E-mail format preference. The difference between HTML and Plain Text is simple. HTML E-mails typically include images while plain text is just plain text. Other than personal preference, it also depends on the E-mail software that you use to access your E-mail messages. So, make sure that your E-mail software can retrieve HTML E-mails prior to selecting HTML as your preferred E-mail format.
